See I
told you!... I was a big relief as we were rejoicing upon reaching Manali. All
hardship has finally paid off. The weather was perfect for a summer vacation.
The vacation to Kullu, Manali and Shimla in month of May was planned with the
idea get away from the heat of Mumbai. We did all the research but were
doubtful and were hoping for the best.
Everything
worked as planned. We took an evening flight from Mumbai to Delhi so that we
could travel through night from Delhi to Manali by taxi. We thought we would
reach Manali sometime in the morning. But sadly, our calculations went wrong.
We started at 12 midnight from Delhi and could touch Manali only by 3 pm!!
We
crossed Chandigarh in the morning, were we had a halt. It was extremely hot and
after Mandi, as we started to ascend, the driver switched off the AC (though we
hired an AC Car). We were told that it is a norm and we had to suffer. It
was a difficult journey also because my six year old daughter
has severe motion sickness, Till Kullu, the climate was very hot and we stated
believing that it was a wrong decision to come to this place.
Surprisingly,
when we reached near Manali the weather changed and to our delight, it became
very pleasant and then chilly, exactly what we had wished for. When we reached
“Manali Resorts”, beautiful place 5 kms before Manali town we were exultant. It
was clouded and the air was cold. We quickly slipped into warm cloths.
Manali Resorts proved to be another
terrific decision. The place had wonderful view of snow clad mountains of
Dhauladhar Range (We did the booking in Mumbai) and wonderful cosy room with
the view of Beas River seems to welcome us with its ripples.
Lovely Himanchali cherries and
strawberries greeted us and we were all set to explore the Himanchal galore!!
