Devbagh Beach Resort, Karwar

Jungle Lodges and Resorts, Devbagh, near Karwar is one of its kind. It offers a unique opportunity to live a jungle life.  A retreat, which is not only exclusive, but secluded as well. The resort is located on an island near estuary of river Kali and Arabian sea. The resort is only accessible by boat.  We had traveled to this place by road from Mumbai. The resort office is just off the national highway 17 (Panvel-Kochi Highway) on the banks of Kali river. If you are coming from Goa cross the big bridge on the river and take the first left. You will see the office right there.

The boat took off from Kodibagh jetty near the resort office. The resort is on the other side of the river.

It is so exciting to see the sea waves from from the boat at the point where the river is receding in the sea.

The resort welcomes with the shrubs of these wild berries.

The resort is covered with huge Casuarina trees. The resorts has cottages made of wood. Surrounding these cottages there are number of hammocks on Casuarina trees.

The spoilsport however was the climate. It was hot and humid at this time of the year. After having tasty crabs at lunch, we decided to take a nap. Soon to realize that we were not alone in the cottage. The cottage given to us proved to be a playground or playwall of lizards of all sizes. After all jungle life is not exclusive for them.

The staff admitted that they gave us the cottage (No. 10) which particularly favourite to these species, and offered an inferior cottage far off. We had left with no option but to take it.

My daughter wanted to go far water sports which was on till 5 pm only. She enjoyed a lovely time jet skiing and kayaking.

Evening at the beach was particularly delightful. The breeze on the enormous sea shore was amazing.

The beach side dinner was a disappointment. We didn't go for morning jungle walk and boat ride as wanted to leave early.

The motorboat dropped us to the Kodibagh jetty. We were happy to see our car washed and cleaned.

Overall experience would be a 5 on 10!

Happy travelling!
