The Best Ever Road trip - Mumbai to Coorg and Back Part 1

Finally, it happened. We had the best ever road trip - from our home Mumbai to all the way to Coorg. And what a journey it was! We witnessed the black, rich and fertile soil in Maharashtra, turned orange in Goa and then, became red till Karnataka. It was an ultimate realization of different worlds. They were three different civilizations. One, rushing towards work, second lazy and contented and third is busy enjoying and indulging in the best life!

Onto journey was as per plan, that is, Mumbai to Ganpatipule, Ganpatipule to Devbagh and Devbagh to Coorg.

We left Mumbai at 5:45am. The weather was hot and cloudy.

It was little crowded than our expectations.

We took NH 17 or Goa Highway at Panvel. NH17 is only two lane and thus we were pretty slow.

We reached Karnala at around 6:45am. It was as beautiful as ever.
After getting a thumps up from Karnala, we mover ahead only to find some traffic and bad roads. There were some riverside restaurants near Mahad. We regretted not stopping there. We had breakfast at not so very good Vitthal Kamat near Poladpur. We had to go straight at Poladpur Junction. There were some lovely roads and ghats.
At around 11:30am, we reached Chiplun. It is always wonderful to see river Vasishti near Quality Inn Resort with all it's branches making a beautiful panorama.
There are number of snack and tea stall at this point, where you can sit and enjoy the view.

Moving ahead, post Sangameshwar, we took a sharp right turn down the hill towards Ganpatipule.
The road was very narrow and some patches were bad. We reached Ganpatipule at around 1pm. We had to go to Malgund which was about 5kms from the main Ganpatipule. We reached our hotel at 1:30pm.

After checking in the resort, we had lunch in a nearby restaurant Sagar Mejwani. Here, we had our first proper seafood meal of the trip. We ate prawns, bombay duck and pomfret fry and prawns thali. The food was good though little expensive. Prawns were really small for the price.

In the evening we went to the temple. The roads near the temple are very narrow. We decided to park the car on the main road and walked to the temple.

There were number of giant Banyan trees and some of them must be hundreds of years old.

There was an ancient tank near temple, which is now abandon.

The temple was much organized and we had darshan in less than an hour. We quickly came back to resort and had some quality time on the beach.

The moon was stunningly beautiful.

We had lovely dinner at the hotel restaurant. We slept early as we had planned to leave early morning for Devbagh.
